Colgate For Your Teeth Not Your Face

The Colgate brand we know today was founded by a man named William Colgate way back in 1806. Mr Colgate originally started out making soap and personal care products, and as a result, was a very well known company for it. However, on the trend to diversify their portfolio, in 1873 the company introduced their first toothpaste, Colgate Toothpaste, which was an aromatic toothpaste sold in jars, but it wasn't until 1896 that Colgate sold their first toothpaste in a tube named Colgate Ribbon Dental Cream. Clearly selling well, by 1908 Colgate started selling their toothpaste in a tube on a massive scale, and as a result, that decision is still benefitting the company centuries later.
