About
Who Am I
My name is Chris, but in the realm of creativity, I go by the name iSAW. The name iSAW is an acronym which stands for ‘Imaginatively Superior Art Work’. The name cleverly and ironically teases the true definition of ’eye sore’, as my products and designs are visually appealing presenting exquisite creations that captivate the gaze.
What Do I Do
I’m a visual designer - a self-taught digital artist, photographer, and graphic designer combined into one, unifying my diverse experiences and crafting my distinctive brand to bring back imaginative art through fashion, attire, and luxurious accessories.
What Is My Aim
My goal is to display diversity, distinctiveness, creativity and fun with my art through various fashion, attire and luxurious accessories designed for those who embrace individuality. Simply put - fashion for individualists.
How It All Began
It all began when I entered an art gallery one day. While surveying a room, I soon discovered nothing captivated me, nothing beckoning me closer to explore deeper. Recognising this lacklustre experience early into my visit, I made the choice to turn around and leave the room disappointed by the lack of captivating artwork. Regrettably, this experience was repeated with every room I visited, each subsequent room echoed the same lacklustre experience.
Now experiencing disappointment and frustration, my internal dialogue began to ponder: 'Why am I not captivated by the status quo? Why is everything so predictable and repetitive? Everywhere I turn, I’m met with mere versions of past displays, so why isn't there something uniquely different being produced? I need a burst of creativity, a new perspective, something different and bold, just for the love of art?’
I left the building and took a moment to sit. After thorough contemplation, the conclusion was clear: 'Craft the art that resonates with your own vision. If the current offerings lack allure and uniqueness, take the initiative to create it yourself.'
The experience was a surreal moment of self-reflection and inner dialogue - conversing with myself, questioning my disconnection from mainstream art, and realising a quest to find like-minded individuals, leading me to forge my own connection to appreciate a different artistic perspective.
What Is My Inspiration
The inspiration behind iSAW began in January 2008.
“Consider the design of a house, a car, a watch, or any object. Why do high quality, mediocre, and poor quality examples exist? Everything starts in the mind during conception, from the meticulous attention to detail, quality, and presentation (or lack thereof) dictates the end product.
Is art any different then?
Are there any considerations to take into account knowing art is in the eye of the beholder and open to personal interpretation?
Maybe... but when something is thoughtfully designed, made with quality materials and aesthetically presented well, the natural conclusion is one of high standards. High standards is a benchmark.
Art is no different.”
